This beef and onion stir-fry is a quick, flavorful dish perfect for weeknight dinners. Made with tender beef strips, caramelized onions, and a savory sauce, it comes together in just 20 minutes and pairs perfectly with rice or noodles.
Ingredients:
1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1 large onion, sliced
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup water or beef broth
Instructions:
Marinate the Beef – In a bowl, combine sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let it sit for 10 minutes while prepping the other ingredients.
Cook the Onions – Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
Sear the Beef – Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Stir-fry the beef in batches for 2-3 minutes until browned. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Combine and Simmer – Return the onions to the pan with the beef. Add the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, and water or broth. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
Finish and Serve – Drizzle with sesame oil (if using) and serve hot over steamed rice, Bun, or noodles.
This beef and onion stir-fry is a comforting, protein-packed dish that delivers bold flavors with minimal effort. Ideal for busy nights or a cozy homemade meal.
